This study examines job turnover among 119 early childhood educators in Seoul in relation to work environment, job satisfaction, and burnout. Results revealed that private kindergarten teachers were less likely to be satisfied with their work environment and job than child care center teachers. Teachers wishing to have other job choices available to them reported receiving lower wages, experiencing less satisfaction with their work, environment and job, and higher levels of burnout. Teachers intending to leave their profession were less likely to be content with work environment and job, and more likely to experience burnout, depersonalization and little personal accomplishment. The implications of this report for changing early childhood programs are discussed.
