일상의 해부를 위한 앨리 혹실드의 개념 도구 탐색 = “감정노동”부터 “아웃소싱 자아”까지

국문 초록 (Abstract)

일상을 분석하고 해부함에 풍성한 개념 도구를 제안해온 동시에 예리한 통찰력을 가미해 온 혹실드의 학문적 여정을 탐색하고자 하는 이 글은 Ⅱ장에서 혹실드의 생애와 업적을 간략히 소개하고, Ⅲ장에서는 시간의 흐름을 따라 혹실드가 애정과 열정을 모아 작업한 연구 성과의 내용과 의미를 정리하고자 한다. 여기에는 1983년 발표된 The Managed Heart(이후 『감정노동』)로부터 시작하여 2012년 간행된?『아웃소싱 자아』?에 이르기까지 혹실드가 지나온 학문적 여정이 포함될 것이다.
『감정노동』?으로부터 시작된 혹실드의 학문적 여정은 『이교대제』와 『시간 압박』에 이르는 동안은 산업 시간이 가족 시간을 압도함으로써 가족이 시장 자본주의에 의해 희생되는 측면을 섬세하면서도 예리하게 비판하고 있다. 이후 글로벌 돌봄 연쇄, 친밀한 삶의 상품화 및 ?아웃소싱 자아?에 이르기까지는 글로벌 리제이션이 우리의 일상을 구조화하는 방식을 섬세하게 규명함으로써 이주의 여성화가 글로벌 돌봄 연쇄를 동반하고, 이로 인해 “숨겨진 희생자”가 파생됨에 주목하는 동시에, 구글 베이비에서 부터 장례대행업에 이르기까지 친밀한 삶의 모든 영역에 침투하고 있는 상품화를 경계의 눈초리로 조망하고 있다. 이러한 혹실드의 학문적 여정이 한국의 가족 및 젠더 연구에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지 Ⅳ장에서는 간략히 그 함의를 살펴보고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article intends to follow up the academic road of A. Hochschild, who as one of the prominent public sociologists, coins very useful concepts to analyse subtle aspects of everyday life in the post modern context. Chapter Ⅱ briefly introduces Hochschild’s biography and academic accomplishments. Chapter Ⅲ reviews her theoretical journey by the chronological order, from The Managed Heart(1983) to The Outsourced Self(2012).
The main theme reflected through The Managed Heart(1983), The Second Shift(1989), and The Time Bind(1997) is the fact that the industrial time wins over the family time, so the family is victimized by the market economy. Global care chain, the commercialization of the intimate life and outsourced self also examines how the force of globalization functions as the main mechanism to construct everyday life. Chapter Ⅳ addresses family and gender studies in the Korean society influenced by the Hochschild’s academic achievements.
