      2022학년도 교양 음악교육 실태 연구: 서울 소재 12개 대학을 중심으로 = A Study on the Liberal Arts Education of Music in 2022: Focusing on 12 Universities in Seoul

      This paper selected 12 universities in Seoul and analyzed the opening status and course descriptions in order to understand the current status and characteristics of music liberal arts in 2022. In the analysis of the current status of the opening, the numbers and topics of the opening subjects were analyzed, and in particular, in the case of 10 universities where the data were open to the public, the trend was measured compared to the data of 2008. In the case of universities with a significant increase in the opening, it was shown that they apparently had the specific institution or subject in charge of liberal arts education, and the characteristics of the courses were also directly related to the operation method of the institution and subject. As a result of analyzing the subjects of music liberal arts, Western music accounted for almost half, while world music was insignificant, organizing the rest in the order of Korean music, popular music, and convergence. The results of classifying the characteristics of the courses based on Schuler’s ‘ability for artistic independence’ showed that the theoretical aspect currently accounts for 76%, which lacks the aspect of performance and creation. On the other hand, the contents of the course descriptions were analyzed on the basis of Jorgensen’s five music education philosophies, applying the qualitative research software NVIVO. At this time, it is revealed as a limitation that the analysis results may appear differently depending on the nature of the course and the method of describing the course, and may not be the same as the actual content of the course. As a result of the study, knowledge and values, especially musical knowledge and values, are the most important, followed by practical skills, individual experience and expression, social contribution, and maintenance of various cultures.
