단편영화 <그들의 섬광> 제작보고서 : 연출을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구논문의 주요 취지는 2019년 7월부터 시작되어 2019년 11월에 완성된 졸업 단편영화 <그들의 섬광> 의 전반적인 제작과정에 대해 기록함으로써 추후 단편 작품을 만드는 이들에게 일례가 되고자 함이며, 기획부터 완성에 이르기까지 크게 사전제작, 제작, 그리고 후반제작 세 단계로 나누어 서술하였다.
<그들의 섬광>은 ‘탐욕은 가지고 있던 것마저 모두 잃게 만든다’라는 주제로 타락한 형사들과 탈북 성매매 여성을 소재로 한 극영화 스타일의 단편작품이며, 완전히 허구적 상상에만 의존한 것이 아니라, 대한민국에서 뉴스를 통해 사회에 알려졌던 실제 사건을 모티브로 하고 있다.
영화의 제목에 나오는 ‘섬광‘이라는 단어는 주인공들이 불법적인, 혹은 비양심적인 방법을 사용해서라도 큰돈을 쉽게 벌고자 하지만 결국 다 잃게 된다는 것을 은유하며, 동시에 마지막 엔딩 장면에서 궁지에 몰린 주인공이 바라보는, 아름다운 불꽃놀이를 지칭하기도 한다.
마지막으로, <그들의 섬광>은 비단 본 작품에 참여한 연구자와 배우들 및 스텝들만의 작품이 아니라 그간 본 연구자에게 어떤 형태로든 영화적인 영향을 끼친 모든 이가 함께 만든 영화임을 밝힌다. 본 작품이 만들어지는데 도움을 준 모든 분께 감사의 마음을 전하는 최소한의 예의가 본 논문이라고 생각하며 그 기록을 남긴다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main purpose of this report on a short independent movie “A Blaze of Their Own” which was planned on July 2019 and produced on November 2019 through five months of production period is to remain as an example, and as a positive support, on how to make a short movie for those who seek information for making their own independent movies. This research report consists of whole production experiences as well as explanations and is divided into three sections: pre-production, production, and post-production.
“A Blaze of Their Own” is a short dramatized movie with a theme of ‘Greedy makes people to lose even all they already had.’ and subject matters of corrupted cops and a whore who escaped from the North and came to South Korea to make living. This movie does not depict a whole fiction, but is based on a true story that was known to people as a news through media.
The word ‘blaze’ shown in the movie title is a metaphor of ‘losing everything so quick’ which means an end of those main characters who seeks money even through illegal or unconscionable ways and, at the same time, designates the fireworks which is shown at the last scene that main character former cop Koo looks at with vacant eyes.
At the conclusion, under the name of director, “A Blaze of Their Own” does not belong to me, but belong to everyone not only those who participated in this project but also all those who affected cinematic influences to this humble director.
