청소년의 사회적 배제수준과 사회적 관계망과의 관계 = The Status of Social Exclusion of the Youth and Its Relation with the Social Network

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the state of youth social exclusion among the youth and the relationship between their social network and social exclusion. The subjects in this study were 486 students in academic and vocational high schools in Seoul. The major findings of the study were as follows; The youth investigated underwent social exclusion in one or more areas on the average, and the experience of social exclusion was more prevalent among the girls and vocational high school students. The characteristics of the academic and vocational high schools in terms of social network were affecting the extent of social exclusion. Academic high school students who were given less negative support were more left out socially, because negative support such as interference or objection by teachers was perceived as a token of interest or affection in the academic high schools. In the case of the vocational high schools, however, keeping in touch with acquaintances just formally without getting into a close relationship merely served to enlarge the social network of the students, but failed to reduce their social exclusion. The findings of the study were expected to provide significant information on the level of social exclusion experiences among the general youth not restricted to alienated special youth group and their relationship between their social network and social exclusion.
