The concept of regional economic growth has a multitude of interrelated facets. It is based on the set of features that describes the position of region at a certain point in historic time. Recently, an increasing number of scholars have noted the developmental potential of policy choices made by regions themselves. The general consensus of these scholars is that government must shift its focus from direct involvement and intervention to creating a favorable environment for regional economic development, to promoting and developing initiatives, and its networking.
This article attempts to find out the patterns of regional economic development policies and programs at the local government level, as a measure local level policy activity (policy dimensions) and policy environment. These are exemplified by 81 municipalities experience.
