위험사회의 도래와 지속가능성

국문 초록 (Abstract)

소형 연구의 주요 연구 목적은 정보사회 새로운 현상으로 인식되고 있는 빅 데이터 현상에 대해 학제적으로 분석하는데 두었다. 2012년은 ‘빅 데이터의 원년’이라고 할 정도로 2012년은 빅 데이터에 관한 폭발적인 관심이 표출된 시기였다. 국내외에 걸쳐 IT 대기업(IBM, 구글, 아마존, 페이스북 등), 전문연구기관, 전문 컨설팅기업들이 빅 데이터 연구에 높은 우선순위를 두었다. 이러한 결과 빅 데이터 현상에 대한 빅 데이터를 활용한 경제적, 공공적 가치 창출에 대한 연구들과 함께 이론적 분석이 활발하게 이루어졌고 많은 사례들이 소개되고 분석되었다. 산업계와 연구계에서는 빅 데이터 현상에 대한 분석이 매우 활발하게 진행되고 있고 또한 특히 산업계 및 금융계의 다양한 분야에서 빅 데이터 분석을 수익모델로 하는 벤처기업 내지 중소기업들이 분석 시장에 신규로 대거 진입하고 있다. 그러나 학계에서는 빅 데이터 현상에 대한 관심이 한발 늦은 편이다. 학계의 관심도 새로운 데이터 분석기법과 방법론에 기초해 솔루션 소프트웨어를 개발하고자 하는 공학 부문과 이를 적용해 경제적 가치를 창출하려는 경영 부문에 집중되어 있다. 이와 같은 상황을 반영하여 소형연구는 빅 데이터 현상에 대한 연구에서 상대적으로 소홀히 다루어지고 있다고 여겨지는 분야를 중심으로 진행하였다. 빅 데이터의 실용적인 활용보다는 빅 데이터 현상에 대한 사회과학적인 관점을 적용하는데 중점을 두었다. 구체적으로 연구계획에서 제시된 대로 빅 데이터 현상을 4개 부문 - 산업 및 기업 부문, 공공 정책부문, 개인 및 시민사회 부문, 국제 부문- 으로 나누어 분석하였다. 언급한 대로 2011년 9월부터 시작된 월간 세미나의 주제도 이러한 연구목적을 최대한 반영하여 기획하고 추진하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

We, human being are living in the inextricable ICT and big data ecology. We are 'being-in-the-world of ICT, Media and Big data'. This world give us useful communication tools and thrilling life. However, we are faced with so much risks caused by ICT, Smart Media and Big data. 'Information Society as a Risk Society(ISRS)' Research Team has explored these risky aspects of networked big data era for 3 years.
First of all, ISRS research team has discovered many theories on big data information society and philosophies on technology society. The outcomes of these theoretical and philosophical studies have been presented in many forms of publications. Second, ISRS research team tried to expand a convergent study among politics, economics, sociology, media studies and cultural studies about usefulness and risk of big data. By this attempt, we could make differenciation from many studies based, focused on the commercial uses of big data. Also, we, research team, could formalize and classify the form of risk. Third, ISRS research team has investigated ripple effects of big data in individual, social, industrial, national levels. From these areal analysis, we could find out the reality of 'complex risks' in the big data era and governance issues in hands of many social groups.
