The purpose of this thesis is to explicate the literacy of the Chinese proses which have been studied actively in the field of Korean-Chinese Study and to analyse the estimates suggested by the late Choson’s prose authors through the elaborated analysis on the proses of Kan-Yi(簡易) Choi Rip(崔岦: 1539~1612) who enormously affected on the creation of proses in the late Choson with creating restorative style’s proses.
The study on the Chinese proses has two problems of present, reflecting on the Reception Theory and researching the critical alternative about theme-centered study’s atmosphere. The study on the Chinese proses which was specialized after 1980’s started on the theoric system of the late Choson’s Theory on the Ancient Proses, among these theories there were some representations of debates between the Ming’s restorative school and Tangsong school. Considering the literary atmosphere of the day that discussions about proses were profoundly accomplished since the 17th century, the theories between the restorative school and Tangsong school had obviously become the fresh stimulus, however these theories had an too inappropriate aspect to affect on the creation. In this point, the restorative proses in Choson are certainly distinguished from the restorative proses devoted themselves into Qin-Han’s proses in Ming. These are the works of restorative style, in other words, Qinhan-gomun(秦漢古文) or Eugomun(擬古文). The restorative proses which has the odd and grotesque characteristics brought about various discussions on selecting cannons, acquiring and imitation, styles and rhetorics by enlarging the prose’s study, creation and criticism from Tang and Sung proses to Qin-Han proses. Choi Rip was on the center of the discussions.
Choi Rip’s proses which had been called creator of the history of GoMun with Yoon Keunsoo(尹根壽), was selected in anthology such as ByoelBon-DongMunSun(別本東文選), DongMun-PalGaSun(東文八家選), DongMun-GibSeong(東文集成) in the late Choson, as well as they were appraised by many critics such as Chang Yoo(張維), Kim Changhyoup(金昌協), Kim Changheup(金昌翕), Ahn Seokkyoung(安錫儆), and Cho Keungseop(曺兢燮) in various aspects.
The analysis on expressional beauty which is the most significant part in relation to this thesis's purpose was examined on the center of rhetorics and characters. The intertextuality of Choi Rip’s proses like this brought about the denounces of preservation and imitation of the ancient style, caused the suspicion that had the relations the works of restoration school. But Choi Rip never devoted himself to existing texts without original authorship. He tried to create the individual and new works and reverse the common senses by distorting and transforming the original meanings, on occasions brought about the pleasant reading by parodying and performing pastiche intentionally.
The formal characteristics like this are completed with characters such as ‘Ki(奇)’, ‘Kan(簡)’, ‘Ko(古)’. Choi Rip created works that had the unique and fanciful point of an argument on the basis of positive recognition about the function of proses and beauty, attained simple and significant expressional beauty of ancient proses through the prudent literary elaboration. But he faithfully represented the speculative thoughts, individual desire and favors on literature and art in the 16th century’s Choson in his works with unique formal beauty.
The description about the statue of the prose’s history is examined on the center of the comparison with the proses of the 15th centuries and spectrums on the late Choson’s criticism. Through the expression that the history of Gomun was created, Choi Rip’s proses are clearly discriminated with the early Choson’s proses such as commentary style and Tang-Sung proses. The discussions about Choi Rip on the late Choson’s criticism ran into two extreme way. On occasions, Choi Rip’s proses were criticized owing to the plagiarism of the restoration school’s works such as Li Mengyang(李夢陽) and Wang Shizhen(王世貞). This is not only because Choi Rip’s proses have the characteristics discriminated with general Tang and Sung proses and but also because there was a denunciation without any reason. It is regarded that there is the possibility that Choi-Rip contacted with the restoration school’s works because he had been to Ming as the diplomat four times. But his proses have not only characteristics of Pre-Qin proses but also the style of Tang-Sung proses such as Han Yu(韓愈) and Ou-Yang Xiu(歐陽修). In this point there is no reasons about the relations with the restoration proses.
When the professional discussions on proses were not yet come to the front, Choi Rip aroused big issues in the literary world on the basis of the epistemological conversion on proses through projecting the general thoughts and literary views of intellectuals of the day and author’s desire into the works which had unique formal beauty. After that, he brought about the various discussions of the creation and criticism of proses.
