도덕과 교육에서 시민교육 영역의 교육내용과 지도 방법

국문 초록 (Abstract)

도덕교육과 시민교육 간의 경계 문제는 우리나라에서와 같이 독립 교과 형태로 도덕교육을 실시할 경우, ‘도덕과 교육과 사회과 교육 간의 경계 문제’로 귀결될 수밖에 없다. 안타깝게도 이와 같이 도덕교육과 시민교육, 그리고 도덕과 교육과 사회과 교육 간에 공통점이 존재한다는 사실은 교육과정 변천 과정을 통해 볼 때 교육이라는 보다 넓은 토대 위에서 시너지 효과를 낸 것이 아니라 어느 하나의 교과교육에 심각한 위기와 도전으로 작용해 왔다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 문제의식에 기초하여 본 연구에서는 도덕교육과 시민교육의 관계, 시민교육과 공적 도덕성의 관계, 도덕과 교육과 사회과 교육 간의 경계 문제, 도덕과 교육의 내용으로서 시민교육 영역의 배경 학문, 그리고 도덕과 교육에서 시민교육 지도의 방법 등이 무엇인가를 구체적으로 밝혀 보고자 한다. 이를 통해 도덕과와 사회과의 ‘역할 공유와 역할 분담’의 타당한 관계 설정만이 도덕성과 시민성을 통합적으로 갖춘 사람을 길러낼 수 있는 유일한 대안임을 강조할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Boundary problems between moral education and citizenship education become naturally connected with those between moral education and social studies education, under Korean circumstance that has managed moral education as a separate subject matter. Unfortunately, partial similarities between moral education and citizenship education, between moral education and social studies education have caused serious trouble in moral education, not producing synergy effects in the history of Korean educational curriculum. With an awareness of the issues, the present study tries to clarify the relationship between moral education and citizenship education, the relationship of public morality and citizenship education, boundary problems between moral education and social studies education, scientific backgrounds and teaching methods of citizenship education for moral education in a more detailed manner. Finally, this study emphasizes the importance of "common ownership and division of roles between moral education and social studies education" to produce integrated persons who have moral character and good citizenship.
