Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the changes in activity of daily living and quality of life of the elderly according to dementia after executing home-based rehabilitation service, Methods: The study was performed on 13 subjects, who were over 65 living in D city and were diag- nosed as handicapped. From May to November in 2011, the program was performed every week for 30 minutes to 1 hour by visiting them once or twice every week as a team made up of two. To measure the cognition and dementia scales of the participating handicapped, they were divided into 2 groups using MMSE-K and GDS. Two groups were tested by MBI for activities of daily living and by GQOL-D for quality of life and changes before and after the home~based program were investigated, Results: After executing the program, changes in activities of daily living and quality of life were measured before and after the home-based rehabilitation program were measured. The non-de?mentia group showed significant changes in quality of life after the treatment(t::: -5.484, p < 0.00 I), and dementia group showed statistically significant changes in quality of life(t =?18.205, P < 0.000) and activitise of daily Iiving(t::: -3.162, p < 0.025). The Pearson correlation coefficient between activities of daily living and quality of life was 0.570, which means there is positive correlation(p < 0.05), Conclusion: The non-dementia group & dementia group showed improvement after the regular execution of the program. In particular, the dementia group showed changes in activities of daily living and quality of life. Thus, if the elderly with light cognition disorder or early dementia have regular physical movements and social participation, secondary dementia accompanied by age can be prevented and they can enjoy normal life. Accordingly home-based rehabilitation serv?ice executed in some areas only should be expanded to other areas so that it may help to improve the quality of life of the disabled at home.
