When this paper was collecting various materials to examine the "state of Dokdo curriculum guidance in Korea", news about Dokdo, which caused public outcry, broke out. The Japanese Ministry of Education and Science recently approved the textbooks that included these contents, along with the news that "Japan's elementary school students are going to be given textbooks that will be used from next semester that state the islet as Japan's own territory and one that Korea has illegally occupied." Of course, it was reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned it and urged the withdrawal of the test. In the "Seminar on Sustainable Dokdo Management Policy" held at the Korea Institute of Ocean Research, Ulleungdo, Korea, and the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, located on Ulleungdo, this paper announced "The Status of Dokdo Curriculum Map and Improvement of Dokdo Curriculum Map" on April 12.
This paper tried to expand the contents more specifically. Now, education on Dokdo is at a time when it should never be shouted as a slogan to elementary, middle, and high school students in Korea.
The right historical awareness of Dokdo should be clearly communicated to future generations to prevent the perceived distortion of Japan's history of Dokdo. This paper is to examine how the accurate knowledge of Dokdo is recorded in the textbooks and what is the true method for greater Dokdo education. It would be prudent to check the current status of Dokdo teaching in Korea and suggest an interesting "Improvement of Dokdo teaching" that is more suitable for students' eyes. To do this, books such as "Knowing Dokdo" published by the Northeast Asian History Foundation for "Elementary School", "Middle School" and "High School" will be examined and examine similarly the contents of the book "Dokdo" published by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education will be perused. In addition, the contents of Dokdo in the first chapter of "Society Department of Elementary School" published by the Ministry of Education could be introduced.
This is the basic text to examine the current status of Dokdo teaching in Korea. In fact, this paper is amazed at the efforts of our country to properly inform the populace about Dokdo while reading these books. However, this paper was written today due to concerns about whether there is a good way to make students more interested in Dokdo.
This paper has also been researching the use of storytelling techniques for various islands. Storytelling using the archetype of history and culture that "island" possesses has been explored, while publishing a book called "Treasure Island of Storytelling, Gogunsan Island (2015, Book Publishing Divinity). Therefore, in this paper, a storytelling technique was proposed as a method of "improvement of Korean curriculum guidance".
