Holography is a technique to produce a visual three dimensional image by recording light interference pattern on a recording media. Holographic theory implicitly contains laser light characteristics and diffraction interference theory, making it an ideal teaching tool which is widely used in undergraduate experiment courses. In order to carry out holography experiments, an expensive He-Ne gas laser and a spatial filter have been used. In this paper, we built a low cost educational holograph experimental setup using a semiconductor laser diode as the light source. In this setup we also used only a beam splitter and a mirror in addition to the semiconductor laser diode, excluding a spatial filter. We succeeded in recording and reconstructing a holographic images with the resulting setup.
