<순종대왕경연가>를 통해 보는 궁중연향의 영향력과 의의 = Influence and Significance of Court Banquet observed through &lt; Contest Lyric of King Sunjong &gt;

국문 초록 (Abstract)

<순종대왕경연가>는 순조대 열린 ‘기축진찬의식’의 거행으로 인하여 창작된 가사 작품으로 연향의 메시지가 백성들에게 어떻게 전달되었는지를 확인할 수 있는 의미있는 작품이다. ‘기축진찬의식은’ 순조의 40세 생일과 즉위 30주년이라는 두 가지 경사를 축하하기 위해 치러진 연향으로 당시 순조를 대신해 대리청정하던 효명세자에 의해 치밀하게 기획된 연향이었다. 특히 효명세자는 세도정치 속에서 대리청정 하는 동안 많은 궁중연향을 통해 정치적 메시지를 전달하고자 하였는데 그 중 ‘기축진찬의식’은 효명세자가 가장 많은 공을 들여 준비한 연향으로 알려져 있다. 그리고 이 연향이 백성들에게 어떤 영향을 끼쳤는지에 대한 실마리를 발견할 수 있는 것이 바로 <순종대왕경연가>이다. ‘평양’에서 ‘기축진찬의식’에 대해 알게 된 서생 양관찬은 연향이 치러진 이후 <순종대왕경연가>라는 작품을 지었다. 이 작품에서 양관찬은 연향을 지켜본 백성들이 가지는 조선 궁중에 대한 시각, 성대한 연향의 위엄, 순조와 효명세자의 정치적 행보까지 서술하고 있다. 그리고 이와 같은 내용을 통해 ‘기축진찬의식’을 통해 효명세자가 백성들에게 전달하고자 한 메시지가 어떻게 전달되었는지를 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 <순종대왕경연가>는 의의를 가진다. 이와 같은 연구는 앞서 궁중연향 연구가 ‘의궤’를 주요 자료로 하여 연향의 준비부터 설행까지를 살피고 연향의 목적을 밝히는 연구 성과를 이루었던 것에서 나아가 궁중연향이 치러지고 난 이후의 성과를 밝혔다는 점에서 가치를 가진다고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The < Contest Lyric of King Soonjong > investigated in this study is a lyric work created after the ‘Gichuk Jinchan Euisik’, which means a Court Ceremony (Jinchan: 陳餐) held at the year of Gichuk (己丑), during the reign of King Sunjo, and entails its own value as a work that described the story after the court banquet (宮中宴享). The ‘Gichuk Jinchan Euisik’ was an event to celebrate both the 40th birthday of King Sunjo and the 30th anniversary of his throne together, and it was a large-scale banquet with an enormous budget. Such a big court banquet was planned and organized by Crown Prince Hyomyeong (孝明世子), who was taking care of the affairs on behalf of King Sunjo at the time. He delivered a lot of political messages, especially through the court banquets, and among them, the ‘Gichuk Jinchan Euisik’ is known as the court banquet that Crown Prince Hyomyeong has exerted to effort most. In addition, Yang Kwan-chan, a young Confucianist who watched the ‘Gichuk Jinchan Euisik’ at ‘Pyongyang’, made a lyric called through < Contest Lyric of King Sunjong > after the court banquet. In this work, Yang Gwan-chan even describes the perspective of Confucian scholars, who watched the court banquet, on the Joseon royal court, the dignity of the grand court banquet, and the political moves of Crown Prince Hyomyeong. And through the findings thus far, this study has significance in that it was possible to discover how the performance of the ‘Gichuk Jinchan Euisik’ at the time was accomplished. The precedent studies on the court banquets, mainly based on the ‘Euigue’, have achieved the performance that investigated the preparation and practice of the court banquets and also examined the purposes of them. One step further from here, this study is thought to be valuable in that it elucidated the outcomes that occurred after the royal court banquets, which required an enormous budget and a long preparation time.
