복합순환모형을 적용한 감성 포지셔닝 시각화 도구 개발

The study aims to develop a supportive tool for design to understand emotional traits of design objects by positioning them on an indexical model of emotion and estimating relative positions of them. The study applies psychological model called "Circumplex Model" a structural model of emotion which has been studied by various researchers to verify the relationships between emotions.
Based on the model the study develops a computer-aided visualization tool which positions the emotion entities for evaluation to a reference circular shape. The tool is composed of three modules such as management module evaluation module and display module. This study focuses on the display module which displays the evaluation results gathered through testees' marking on semantic differential scales(-5~+5 scale for given base adjectives of "sad" "happy" "angry" and 10-point-scale for the strength) in graphical and interactive manners. The module is developed in Adobe Flash Actionscript environment and tested with 47 test materials and 52 testees to verify its functionality. The result of the test shows that the tool positions the entities to reliable positions which implies that we can infer proper formal /kinetic visuals for specific emotions from the results.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 디자인 결과물의 감성 특성을 이해하는데 보조적 역할을 할 수 있도록 각 감성을 기준 모형 위에 포지셔닝하고 상대적인 특성을 파악할 수 있도록 하는 시각화 도구를 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 심리학에서 널리 활용되고 있는 감성 구조화 모형인 "복합순환모형 (circumplex model)"을 차용하여 본 도구를 개발한다. 본 연구에서는 위 모형을 바탕으로 컴퓨터상에서 시각적으로 감성 평가 대상을 원형 기준 모형 상에 배치할 수 있는 도구를 개발한다. 시각화 도구는 관리 평가 표시의 총 세 개의 모듈로 이루어져 있으나 본 연구에서는 그 중 표시 모듈 개발에 초점을 맞춘다. 표시 모듈은 평가자가 -5~+5 11점 척도의 형용사 평가("슬픈" "행복한" "화난"의 기본 형용사 대상)와 10점 척도의 감성 강도 평가를 진행하는 의미분별척도법의 결과를 다차원 구조모형 상에 시각적이고 상호작용 가능하게 배치할 수 있게 한다. 본 모듈은 어도비사의 플래시 액션 스크립트 환경에서 개발되었으며 적용 사례 연구를 진행하여 총 47개의 인터랙티브 시각화 자료를 52 명의 평가자를 통해 평가를 진행하여 실효성을 입증하였다. 평가 결과를 통해 본 도구가 평가대상물의 감성을 신뢰할 수 있는 위치에 표시하고 있음을 알 수 있었고 역으로 특정 감성을 유발할 수 있는 형태적/동적 비주얼을 유추 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
