This study was performed to measure the dietary fiber's contents in various edible wild vegetables from domestic mountains by modified method of Southgate. Dietary fiber has been realized as indigestible carbohydrate or less-nutrious food. Since It has been increased to take animal food, refined or processed stuffs these days, and not to have much dietary fibers has caused some chronic diseases.
Since Dr. Burkitte, Trowell laid stress on the importance of fiber, substantial studies on fiber has been conducted, and it has been proved for fibers to have some effects on the prevention of chronic disease and reduction of cholesterol concentration.
The results of this study ; The total dietary fibers in Bracken, Chewy(aster scaber), Platycodon, Duduk(Codonopsis Ionceolata), Burdock are 29.92%, 29.34%, 20.52%, 13.44%, and 13.30% respectively.
Soluble fiber in Platycodon is the highest, 6.98%, and the others are 5.0% or less.
