유아 인성교육에 대한 유치원 교사들의 인식 및 실태조사 = A Study of Teachers` Beliefs on Character Education of Young Children

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The major goals of present study were twofolded; firstly, it was to find out preschool teachers` beliefs of character development and education for young children in their educational settings. Secondly, it was to develop and propose the educational programs for desirable character formation of young children. In this study, 433 inservice teachers of 3 to 5 years old children from 388 preschools and kindergartens were completed a questionnaire about problems and importance of character education for young children and ideal ways to promote personality based on values appropriate for the information age. The findings of this study were as follows; Firstly, most teachers believed in the importance and necessity of character education for young children, and also agreed on the insufficiency and inadequacy of character education in their educational settings. Secondly, most preschools and kindergartens implemented some type of character education at least once a week. However, the contents of their educational programs stressed heavily on children` self help skills such as self-control, order, etiquette and treat the bags of virtue, like respect of lives, traditional and the others` culture, lightly. Finally, most teachers agreed upon the need of developing educational programs and improving their educational environment for the desirable character education.
