지역체계의 허실 = 1930년대 조선과 만주의 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 뒷날의 망각과는 달리, 1930년대 조선사회가 만주와 매우 긴밀한 관계였음을 밝히고, 일본-조선-만주가 위계적 구도하에 있었다는 세계체제론적 주장을 검증한다. 제국의 중심부는 주변부를 대단한 힘으로 흡인, 내부의 경계를 무너뜨려 일종의 국제화시대를 열었다. 후발제국 일본의 압축적 축적 방식을 반영하듯, 만주국 건국과 더불어 조선과 만주, 일본은 육상, 해상, 공중에서 초스피드로 연결되었다. 부산은 당시 그 접점이었다.
그러나 조선과 만주의 수직적 위계질서는 양자간의 산업구성, 교역품, 무역수지, 이민의 방향, 만주국 내부의 사회질서, 특히 독립국을 표방하는 만주국 형식의 구속 등에서 고찰해볼 때 성립되기 어렵다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This work shows that Korea had a very close relationship with Manchuria in the 1930s which has been hitherto unknown, and tests the validity of the thesis that Japan, Korea, and Manchuria were in a hierarchical regional system.
It is true that the prewar regional system broke open intra-regional barriers and opened a quasi-transnationl phenomena. With the founding of Manchukuo, Korea was quickly connected to Japan and Manchuria via air, land, and sea through Busan Harbor, the so-called “Gate of East Asia”.
However, it is difficult to maintain that Korea was a semi-periphery for Manchuria, when we consider industrial composition of each side, trading relatonship, the direction of the policy emigration, the inner hierarchy in Manchukuo society, etc.
