앤서니 (Anthony Browne) 그림책에 나타난 아버지, 어머니의 모습 = Analysis of Father and Mother’s Role Mentioned in Anthony Browne's Picture Books

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 앤서니 브라운이 직접 글을 쓰고 그림을 그린 그림책 35권 에 나타난 아버지와 어머니의 등장 횟수를 분석하였고 그 중에 아버지와 어머니가의 성격이 중요하게 나타나는 그림책 총 9권을 분석하였다. 분석을 위하여 Blair(1991)의 연구를 바탕으로 부모의 역할을 생계부양자역할, 양육자역할, 정서적 역할, 사회적 도구 및 가치 전달역할, 성격형성역할, 부모의 부재의 6가지로 범주화 하였다. 분석 결과, 앤서니 브라운의 그림책에는 아버지와 어머니 모두 점차 변화되는 모습을 보여준다. 첫째, 아버지의 모습은 전통적인 생계부양자, 사회적 가치 전달자의 역할에서 정서적 역할, 양육자의 역할로 변화한다. 둘째, 어머니의 역할은 양육자의 역할, 정적 지지자의 역할에서 성격 형성자, 생계부양자의 역할로 변화되는 모습을 보여주지만 어머니의 역할에서 정서적 지지의 역할은 그대로 유지됨을 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the parents' image referred to in children's literature as represented by Anthony Browne's picture books. Appearance number of father and mother in 35 Anthony Browne's picture books were analyzed and among them, 9 picture books were selected to do an in-depth analysis. The characteristics of the father's and mother's respective roles were analyzed in six categories such as breadwinner, fosterer, emotional supporter, social value transmitter, character former and absentee. The results showed that Anthony Browne's promote a transformation of father’s role and image in that it transformed from breadwinner to emotional supporter. The study also demonstrates more transformation in terms of the mother’s image rather than the father’s image.
