This study was performed to analyze primarily on the correlation between fatigue cracking and Pay Factor depending on asphalt content. A clearer understanding of these correlation will leads to better trust between agency and contractor for applying Pay Adjustment to asphalt road pavement. More specific abstract of this study maybe summarized as follows :
· First, this study describes the cases and influential factors applied Pay Adjustment for forty states of the U.S. Based on that, the study analyzes the applicable factors that are considered for Pay Adjustment of asphalt road pavement in Korea.
· Second, estimation and measurement tools for the payment of asphalt road management and operation are also suggested. Many U.S. states apply PWL method to estimate Pay Factor using Q-Value. Conceptually, the Q-Value performs the same function as the Z-Value. Hence, the Pay Factor method for the payment of asphalt road construction is suggested by the correlation among Q-Value, Z-Value and T-Value using domestic database of Korea pavement such as density and lift thickness in the pavement.
· Third, this study is also performed to analyze the correlation between Pay Factor and fatigue cracking depending on asphalt content. The Pay Factor is estimated using PWL method by asphalt content in the test track. And the fatigue test to understand how the fatigue cracking of road pavement can be changed by Pay Factor is proceeded by beam fatigue test with asphalt mixture in the field.
