『로동신문』에 나타난 대남보도 논조 분석 -2008년 이후를 중심으로 = An Analysis of the Editorial Tone of 『Rodong Shinmun』-News Reports regarding South Korea since 2008

This research assumed that the relationship between South-North Korea influenced the tone of North press` news reports on South. According to the changes in relationship, I divided the time period of South`s Lee government (Jan. 1, 2008~Jan. 1, 2010) into 5 stages; 1) transition period of Roh government to Lee government (Jan. 1~30, 2008), 2) inaugural period (Feb. 25~March 25, 2008), 3) candlelight rally period (July 13~Aug. 11, 2008), 4) North missile·nuclear test period (April 29~May 28, 2009), 5) midterm period of Lee government (Jan. 1~30, 2010). Based on the time period, I analyzed Rodong Shinmun`s news items regarding South focusing on the changes of the tone and manner. The paper proposed four research questions, 1) who does the news cover and how edit the news materials regarding South, 2) what are the contents and how are they treated 3) which figures and organizations appear on the materials, 4) how does the newspaper describe the figures and organizations. I utilized both content and test analysis. It is held that Rodong Shinmun is the central means for North powerful propaganda and the key journalism medium through which People`s party explains and remarks its line and policy. Hence, unless Kim Jeong Il`s policy so called ``Juche`` (self-reliance) press idea basically changes, the voice of Workers` Paper will keep its tone and manner as it has been for the time being.
