Three questions around the affective domain of reading development were addressed in this paper. The first question was what‘s the relationship of reading interest and reading comprehension. The second one was what`s the role of reading motivation in the building of reading attitude. The third one was what`s the characteristics of reading enjoyment and the educational effect of it. After examining the previous related researches, this paper concluded that the self- constructions of the readers were the most important factors in the affective domain of reading development. Readers are the active subjects who have the curiosities and interests about the world and reading materials. And they are usually self-motivated to enjoy the reading experiences and voluntarily involved in the meaning making of them. In considering of the engagements of readers, the reading educators should be care of both the affective and the cognitive domains of reading development. The dynamic developmental system of readers may be constituted of the changes in the reader self-concepts and the development of reading interests. It may be also identified with the nature of reading experiences which have been selected and enjoyed by the readers.
