      This paper is intended to attempt the environmental approch to architectural space.
      This is introduction for studing the architectural space at the view point of human perception and behavior by considering the environmental system, environmental perception and human behavior.
      Man's environment can be classified with the geographic environment and the behavioral environment. By relating a geographic environment, behavioral environment is formed. Behavioral environment is the psychological environment for maintaining in the human existence and life The subject of architectural space is man. Man perceives the environment not only with the sense organ such as eyes, ear etc, but with the image which is created by the interaction between man and environment-that is related to certain place which reflects the past experience, attitude and values.
      Man's perception is related to the sense of place rather than the sense of space.
      Therefore, architect's design should be based upon the creation o place at the environmental stand point rathe than the creation of space.
