■ Objectives Many researches on telemedicine are in progress all over the world, but there are a few studies in Korea. The purpose of this paper was to compare diagnoses from store-and-forward (SAF) teleconsultation and traditional face-to-lace (FTF) office visiting.
■ Methods and materials Fifty lesions of 50 patients are examined by one dermatologist through teleconsultation and clinic-based consultation system. Concordance of diagnoses was compared.
■ Results There were 41 complete agreements (82%), 9 partial agreements (18%), and no disagreement of the diagnoses.
■ Conclusions Our results suggest that digital image consultations are comparably reliable to the clinic-based consultations and that relatively inexpensive equipment can render a high-quality teledermatology consultation. We doubt whether the teleconsultation would be applied to the broad range of dermatologic conditions. Further investigation in this field is necessary and it will achieve increased accuracy and wider acceptance.
