시설보호 아동의 시설 생활 경험 연구: 비혈연 형제관계를 중심으로 = Experience of Children in Institutional Care： Focus on Relationship with other Children Living in the Same Institution

The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of relationships of children living in institutional care. The existing researches have focused on the relations between child care workers and children in institutional care. However, it is the relationship with other children living in the same institutional that warrant attention. Accordingly, this study explored the meaning of "non-kin sibling relationships". For this purpose, data was collected mainly from in-depth interviews with six early adolescent children using qualitative data analysis method.The results showed that four key experiences namely, "mutual sympathy", "nurturing", "deep scratch(battering trauma)", "no special feelings" existed in these non-kin sibling relationships. Lastly, this study made a number of recommendations regarding intervention methods of supporting non-kin sibling relationships.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

◈본 연구는 양육시설에서 생활하는 시설보호 아동들이 경험하는 비혈연 형제관계의 의미를 이해하려는 목적에서 이루어졌다. 기존에는 친가족을 대신할 대리적 관계로 보육사와의 관계에 주목하였으나, 실제 보육사보다 더 오랫동안 함께 생활하면서 지속적으로 관계를 맺는 사람은 시설 내 다른 아동들이다. 이에 본 연구는 시설보호 아동들의 비혈연 형제관계에서 주목하여 그들의 경험 세계를 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 질적 연구방법을 사용하였고 강원도에 있는 한 양육시설에서 생활하는 중학교 1-2학년 아동 6명에 대한 심층 면접을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 질적 분석 결과, 시설보호 아동은 비혈연 형제관계에서 '동병상련', '보살핌', '깊은 생채기', '무덤덤함'을 경험하는 것으로 나타났는데, 본 연구는 이들 경험에 대한 해석과 함께 비혈연 형제관계를 지원할 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다.
