As in 21st century, a lot of consumers have been flowed in beauty-industry to create their own images which can represent their identity, the size of beauty-industry has become enlarged. With advent of franchise beauty salons from 1992, in particular, each salon provides training of skill and service for their stylists and partners to offer outstanding customer services.
Up to now, the service training of beauty salons are not established by systematic theory or survey of employees but imitated other fields of industry. On that account, analysis of employees' needs of training and figuring out present training conditions.
Hence, the purposes of this study are, firstly, making CEO noticing the gap between contents of their own service training program and the real needs of employees, and secondly, suggesting the effective service training program which can improve employees' job performance.
To achieve these purpose, this study carried out a survey targeting 400 worker in franchise beauty salons which located in Seoul from March 18, 2011 to March 27, 2011 and analyzed data with SPSS v.14.0 program. Methods of analyzing data are frequency analysis, factor analysis, cross tabulation, independent samples t-test and one way ANOVA.
The results are as following:
Firstly, the arrangement of the degree of completing service training is 'service training on customer entrance and exit', 'service training on employees' appearance management', 'service training on maintain the cleanliness of working place', 'service training on basic rules of job performance', 'service training on handling of customer complains'. This results shows omission of the service training on handling of customer complains in salons' service training program.
Secondly, the arrangement of the degree of performing service training is 'service training on employees' appearance management', 'service training on maintain the cleanliness of working place', 'service training on basic rules of job performance', 'service training on handling of customer complains', 'service training on customer entrance and exit'. In comparing this data with above data, 'service training on customer entrance and exit' ranked the lowest in performing service even though it is ranked the highest in completing service training. It means that this filed of training program should change into more practical and achievable way.
Thirdly, as the result of analyzing the recognition of necessity for service training, most of employees answered that service training is needed. However, the degree of satisfaction of them shows 3.61 point in average for 5 point. The reason why is that it has disadvantages of time and space because most of the service training are held in service training center which is far from work places. Through it, the service training should be conducted rather inviting service trainer to work place than forcing employees to visit training center.
Finally, the arrangement of making offer weakness on the service program is 'service training on handling of customer complains', 'service training on maintain the cleanliness of working place', 'service training on customer reception'. Classifying this data with employees who have worked from 1 to 7years show the highest demand for the service training program. Therefore, the new service program should suggest the effective way of more practical handling customer complains.
Hereupon, this study classify groups, meets with needs of customer, as 'stylist', 'partner', 'manager', 'CEO' and suggest custom made training program which provide the content each group need. Including variety simulation to enhance concentration and find out the way of ease employees low morale by provide the service training program in work place with high effectiveness. Furthermore, it is considered that this study structured finely the effective service training program through constant feedback with employees.
