미학과 정치 = 독일 초기낭만주의에 대한 사상사적 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

근래에 부상하고 있는 문화정치에 대한 관심들은 문화영역을 새로운 정치 실천의 영역으로 간주하는 경향이 있다. 이러한 관점은 근대의 이성관에 대한 성찰적 결론들과 결부된 대안모색적 성격을 내포하고 있다. 사상사적으로 이처럼‘합리성’의 제약적 측면을 인식하고, 그에 대한 대안적 능력의 가능성을 적극적으로 모색하고자 했던 사유의 연원은 독일 초기낭만주의에서 발견된다. ‘이성’의 대안으로서‘감성’범주의 실천적 가능성을 적극적으로 확립하고자 했던 독일 초기낭만주의는 칸트-피히테로 대변되는 이성철학 전통과의 밀접한 관련 속에서 형성된 사유였다. 이러한 사상사적 위치는 이성-감성을 단지 대립적인 속성들로서가 아니라, 상호관계성 속에서 각각의 상대적인 권능과 한계를 함께 조망하게 해주는 사상적 국면을 제공한다. 정치적으로 감성 중심의 문화적 접근은 비합리성이 초래하는 정치적 재앙으로 인식되기도 하고, 최근의 문화정치학의 부상에서 보듯 정치적 대안으로 인식되기도 하는 양가성을 지닌다. 이러한 상반된 인식을 고려할 때, 이성-감성의 상호대비적 특성에 대한 내용적 고찰이 우선적으로 요청된다. 이 논문은 독일 초기낭만주의 사상의 생성과정에 대한 사상사적 고찰을 통해 이성과 감성 각각의 실천적 가능성을 조망해본다. 이러한 고찰은 근대세계의 정치실천에서 전제되는 합리적 요청들과 인간행위를 이끄는 비합리적 원천들을 조화시키는데 필요한 사상적 토대를 제공할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently, social scientists have paid increasing attention to culture or ‘cultural politics’. These interests are closely connected with the reflective thinking on the modernity and modern understandings about ‘reason’. This article reassesses the thought of early German Romanticism as the origin of the attempts to such reflections. This study suggests that key thinkers of early German Romanticism were deeply influenced from German idealist philosophy. From their critical understanding about Kant’s and Fichte’s philosophy, we can obtain fruitful ideas of the human capacity that operates in ‘non-reason’ dimension. These ideas provide useful implications in seeking to find way to harmonize the rationality that required in political practices and the non-rational forms of human mind that operates as the motivating sources.
