근대한국의 동아시아 지역 인식과 지역질서 구상

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper tries to review the regional conceptions of East Asia and the ideas of regional order in modern Korea. In advance, it deals with the conceptional formation of the regional unit as the prerequisite of the ideas of regional order. The ideas of regional order for independence of modern Korea and peace of East Asia can be theoretically categorized as the following three: first, alliance, balance of power and neutrality as realistic approach; cooperation as liberalistic approach; and tri-polar stance as constructive approach. The first mostly can be found in the King Kojong and bureaucrat in power, the second in the enlightenmental intellectuals in civil society, the third in reformative Confucian intellectuals in civil society. While the realistic approach finally resulted in the behavior of following the powers and placing her destiny on them, liberalistic approach shows that the norms without power are helpless. Meanwhile the constructive approach which consider structural aspect of the balance of power as well as normal aspect of the trust and cooperation, even though it didn't realized in the imperialist times, gives some suggestions to us in making of the world and regional orders of the future.
