사회주의 사실주의 관점으로 본 「덴동어미화전가」의 미학

국문 초록 (Abstract)

「덴동어미 화젼가」는 ‘덴동어미’라는 여성의 비극적인 일생을 서술하였다. 작품은 주인공의 불행한 운명과 체험경력을 토대로 깔고 사회현실에 대한 비리와 풍자를 보여주면서 사실주의 경향을 드러내고 있다. 이런 상황을 감안하고 이글은 사회주의 사실주의 관점으로 「덴동어미화전가」를 바라보려고 한다.
「덴동어미화전가」에서는 덴동어미 남편의 죽음과 가족의 붕괴는 사회의 불합리성과는 갈라놓을 수 없음을 보여주고 있으며 여성의 불행과 함께 사회의 불평등 현상에 대한 시선도 포착되고 있다. 작품에서 그려진 사회적 사건과 관련된 경제적 고난은 덴동어미에 국한된 것이 아닌 당대 하층민 모두가 공감할 수 있는 문제사태라고 봐야 할 것이다. 덴동어미가 원래는 중인계층이었다가 거듭되는 불행을 겪고 하층민으로 전락하는 과정은 새로운 사회계층으로의 편입의 과정이기도 하다. 이러한 새로운 사회계층의 편입은 경제적 사회수단의 소유여부에 의해 결정되며 생산수단의 상실이 주된 원인으로 봐야 할 것이다. 봉건주의 해체기와 자본주의 초기에 처한 조선 후기라는 시대배경 하에 사회 유랑민을 포함한 하층계급은 근로자 계급이라는 계급범주로 볼 수 있으며 또한 이를 가장 극대화하여 형상화시켜 놓은 인물이 바로 덴동어미라고 할 수 있다. 사회주의권에서의 사회주의 사실주의는 무산자 계급의 단결로 유산자 계급과 불평등에 대한 타도를 견지한다. 하지만 「덴동어미 화젼가」라는 작품이 창작된 시대상황과 여성적 인물상이라는 특징을 고려해서 작품에서 체현된 투쟁의식을 우회적으로 이해할 필요가 있다. 이 작품에서 체현되는 투쟁의식은 사회주의 사실주의에서 견지하는 전형적인 계급투쟁의 식에 달하기는 아직 거리가 있다. 덴동어미의 반항정신에 대해서는 그 당시 사회상황과 결부시켜 타도가 아닌 극복으로 봐야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Dhendongeumi-Hwazenga mainly narrated the tragic life of Dhendongeumi. Using the leading character’s miserable destiny and energy as the foreshadowing, the work shows satire and criticism to the social reality, which called realism. According to this feature, this paper will analyze the work from the realistic view of socialism.
In the work, it describes the death of Dhendongeumi’s husband and the destruction of a family has a close connect with social reality. The economic suffering associated with social practice is a common feeling among the lower classes of society.Dhendongeumi was originally a middle class and the process of falling into the lower class could be regarded as the birth of a new social class. This new class is determined by the ownership of economic and social means and the loss of the means of production is the main reason for Dhendongeumi’s falling down. Under the era of feudalism and the early stage of the capitalism, the lower classes including the social vagrants are regarded as the category of class workers. Dhendongeumi could be considered as the most prominent figure in the portraits. The socialist realism within the socialist sphere insists on the proletariat’s overthrow of the bourgeoisie. However, according to the characteristics of the times and female characters of Dhendongeumi-Hwazenga’s creation, we should have a new understanding and awareness of the struggle consciousness embodied in the works. There is still a certain gap between the struggle consciousness embodied in Dhendongeumi-Hwazenga and the consciousness of class struggle is advocated by socialist realism. The rebellious spirit of Dhendongeumi should be combined with the social conditions at that time. It is not a struggle, but a kind of “hard work” and “Overcoming”.
