This study was intended to investigate how the inquiring-learning method would practically be applied to the economic education classrooms, and thereby to find out the suitable ways for betterment of the instruction method of economic education in middle schools.
For these purposes 76 teachers from middle schools in Gyeong-nam Province were selected and surveyed.
The inquiring-learning method was found to be insufficiently applied to economic education classrooms. Especially, it was noticed that instructing activities of the teachers for plan and introduction stages in teaching-learning were identified to be much more effectively positive than those for development stage. It was also noteworthy that the instructing activities for value and attitude were, on the whole, in a prominently poor condition.
With above derived findings some suggestions for effectively applying instructing method to current economic education classrooms are as follows :
First, instructional programs for value and attitude are to be diversely developed and supplied.
Second, in order to enable teachers, for themselves, to keep a firm belief to pursue the betterment of instructing method for themselves some incentives are to be given to them.
Third, teaching-learning materials and instructional techniques that are suitable to new instructing method should be developed and supplied variously.
In the long run, the instruction methods in economic education should not be uniform or passive but diverse as well as applicable to current classrooms according to teaching-learning contents and goals, instructional atmosphere, inquiry skills of students, and teachers' spirits and abilities to thrive for creating the new instructing methods.
