This study aims to examine spider image used in Sino-Korean poetry. Important clues identified through the preceding study are that the perception of spiders varies and does not consistently appear in one writer as a fixed perception. This means that likely to be tied to the author’s situation and intention. It also means that there is ample room to be used in multiple ways and extended in another sense.
Taking this into consideration, we have examined the following: In Sino-Korean poetry, has meaning that ‘Spiders in Unmanned Space’, ‘an auspicious spider’, ‘A spider symbolizing its sorrow for spring’. In addition, the Yeongmulshi (詠物詩), which uses spider images as its main material, has formed image groups that are divided into ‘spider as a predator that harms life’, ‘a spider likened to a Se-mang (世網)’, ‘spider as a natural being’.
However, the concentration is different in ordinary Sino-Korean poetry when compared to Yeongmulshi (詠物詩) that focus on spiders. Therefore, we could see that the meaning of spider image is clearly distinguished.
In Sino-Korean poetry where spiders are featured, whether real spiders are depicted or intentionally used as authentic precedent is a matter that can be clarified in a separate way. However, the spider image itself tends to be enhanced by combining with a specific space or by comparing it with other animals. And most of them are used depending on the situation and situation of the writer.
