The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Chinese students majoring in dance's motivation to study abroad on their adaptation to university life and to verify the mediating effects of social support. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 26.0 program, and the Sobel-test was conducted. First, motivation to study abroad had a positive correlation with adaptation to university life, and in social support, professor's support and peer's support had a positive correlation with adaptation to university life. Second, among the sub-factors of social support, professor's support and peer's support had a partial mediating effect on the effect of motivation to study abroad on university life adaptation, but parental support did not have a mediating effect. This study has implications in that it examined the relationship between motivation to study abroad and adaptation to university life among Chinese students majoring in dance and identified the discriminatory effects of sub-factors of social support.
