노년소설의 담론 특성 연구 - 최일남의 <아주 느린 시간>을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서 다루고자 하는 작품은 최일남의 소설집 <아주 느린 시간>에 수록된 6편의 노년소설이다. 작품의 담론 특성을 탐색함으로써 근대의 삶 속에서 노인들이 유지하려고 했던 삶의 진정성과 그들의 일상과 내면 안에 어떠한 노인문제가 담겨 있는지 고찰보고자 했다. 아울러 노년의 작가인 최일남 식의 ‘입담문학’이 그의 전대 소설에 비해 어떠한 변화를 보여주는지 함께 살펴보고자 했다. 이 연구를 수행하기 위해 크게 세 단계로 연구 방향을 수립하였다. 1단계에서는 노년소설과 관련된 관련 학문의 성과를 살폈다. 2단계로 작품의 담론 방식이 작중 인물의 인식 태도와 어떻게 관여하면서 작품의 주제의식을 구현하는지 알아보았다. 3단계에서는 최일남의 노년소설이 성취한 문학사적 의미망이 무엇이고 이전 작품에 비해 어떻게 변화하였는지 살폈다.
이에 따라 6편의 작품 중 최일남의 ｢고도는 못 오신다네｣와 ｢아주 느린 시간｣에 나타난 담론 방식을 고찰하였으며, 나머지 네 편의 작품은 연구를 진행 중이다. 앞선 두 편의 작품에서 필자는 최일남의 노년소설에 ‘가볍게 말하기, 고백하기, 괄호 치기, 독백하기’의 담론이 내적 형식으로 구체화되었음을 밝혔다.
첫째, ‘가볍게 말하기’의 방식은 죽음의 중압감에서 벗어나려는 노년의 태도를 반영한다. 둘째, ‘고백하기’는 노년이 자신들의 생활 속에서 체득한 초월적 정신이 인간미로 승화되는 태도를 보여준다. 셋째, ‘괄호치기’의 일종의 말줄임표와 같은 방식으로서 대화의 맥락을 이어줌과 동시에 노년의 추억 살리기와 현실 감각을 동시에 유지하려는 균형감각을 드러낸 것이다. 마지막으로 ‘독백’은 죽음마저도 현재적 삶의 긍정으로 받아들이려는 태도를 반영하는 것으로서 노년의 진정성을 성찰하도록 기능한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The text in this study is six old-age noves of choi il nam's <very slpow times>. This study aimed to search discourse feature for true of old age in modern times and problem of old age in their life and mind. And to inquire changes of choi il nam's 'glib literature' compared with his previous novels. The direction of this study is established in three steps. In first step this study searched results of knowledge associated old-ages novel. In second step this study inquired how text's discourse embodied theme consciousness connected with attitude of character. In third step considered meaning of the history of literature in choi il nam's old-ages novel and changes his early novel.
In accordance with study considered discourse of ｢godoneun mot osindane｣('godot is not comming') and ｢aju neulin sigan｣('very slow times'), proceeds other four texts. In the former two texts I explained 'light comment, confession, making parenthesis, monologue' was embodied as inner form.
First, the method of light comment reflects the attitude which get out of an oppressive feeling of the old age. Second, the method of confession shows the attitude that transcendence sublimate for humanity.
