이르지 볼케르(Ji？？ Wolker)의 발라드 문학 = A Study on Ji？？ Wolker's Ballad Literature

국문 초록 (Abstract)

볼케르는 총 7편의 발라드와 1편의 발라드 형식의 시를 남기고 있는데, 볼케르의 발라드 문학은 19세기의 체코 사회 발라드 문학의 전통을 계승하면서 20세기에 들어와 이의 발전을 주도하고 완성하였다는 점에서 그 문학사적인 의미가 크다. 체코 프롤레타리아 문학을 대표하는 볼케르의 발라드 문학은 그의 프롤레타리아 문학과 밀접한 관련을 갖는데, 볼케르는 발라드라는 문학장르의 대중적이고 민중적인 특성과 서사적인 특성을 통해 자신이 추구하는 프롤레타리아 문학의 이상을 보다 용이하게 구현하고자 하였다. 볼케르는 시집 『어려운 시간』에 실린 3편의 발라드 중 는 사회의 부조리에 대한 고발을,는 평등한 사회의 건설을 위한 혁명의 필요성을 역설하고 있고, 는 노동의 창조성과 상호연대주의에 입각한 자기희생 정신을 강조하면서 이 시집 전체의 중심사상을 형성한다. 시집 『어려운 시간』에 포함되지는 않았지만 각종 문예지나 일간지의 문예란을 통해 발표된 발라드들 중 는 창녀와 대장장이와 같은 프롤레타리아들의 사랑과 연대의식을, 는 공적이고 집단적인 윤리문제를 제기하고 있고, 는 동료 선원들의 안전을 위한 자기희생정신의 미덕을, 발라드 형식의 시 는 강한 계급의식을 바탕으로 한 투쟁심의 고취를 강조하고 있다.볼케르의 발라드들은 한편으로는 개인의 무모한 희생을 강요하는 부조리한 사회의 척결과 정의로운 사회의 도래를 위한 혁명의 필요성을 역설하고 있고, 다른 한편으로는 자아와 타아, 개인과 집단의 변증법적인 발전에 의한 상호연대와 자기희생 정신의 미덕을 추구한다. 또한 볼케르의 발라드들은 프롤레타리아 휴머니즘을 토대로 한 화합과 조화의 정신을 지향하고 있는데, 그의 발라드 문학역시 예외가 아니다. 결국 볼케르 문학의 이러한 특성들이 그의 발 라드들을 단순한 이데올로기 지향적인 시의 한계를 뛰어넘어 독자들의 지속적인 사랑과 호응을 받게 하고 체코 문학의 귀중한 유산으로 남게 하는 원동력이 되고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ji？？ Wolker has produced seven ballads, among them he inserted Ballad of the Unborn Child, Ballad of a Dream, Ballad of the Stoker's Eyes into his second collection of poetry The Difficult Hour (T？？k？ hodina), which became the classic example of the Czech Proletarian poetry. Another three ballads, i.e., Ballad of Woman, God and Man, Ballad from the Hospital, Ballad of the Sailor, and a ballad type poetry At the X-ray Laboratory Wolker has published in various literary journals or daily papers. Only one ballad titled Ballad of the O'clock written in his early stage of literary activities has remained unpublished during his lifetime. Wolker relied on the tradition of Czech social ballad in the creation of his ballad literature, which has been developed by Jan Neruda, Petr Bezru？ and others. However Czech social ballad has been derived from the classic ballad of Jarom？r Erben whose ballad has been originated from Czech folk ballad in which Czech literature is enormously rich. Ballad literature of Ji？？ Wolker, the most important representative of the Czech Proletarian poetry, is closely related with his proletarian poetry. Wolker adopted the popular and familiar characteristic of ballad literature for his proletarian poetry. On the one hand in Wolker's ballads there are emphasis on the necessity of the rectification of the absurd social system which demands senseless sufferings of the proletariat and emphasis on the urgence of proletarian revolution for the realization of the justice in the world. On the other hand in Wolker's ballads there is stress on the virtues like self sacrifice, nterdependence, solidarity with fellow workers, and collective spirit which are based on the principle of harmony and humanism rather than on the destructive revolution. This humanistic orientation of Wolker's ballad literature makes his poetry not only a classic of Czech Proletarian poetry but also a classic of Czech poetry in general.
