The major purpose of this study were to determine the effects of regular Tae Kwon Do learning on the social development of adolescents' as perceived by their parents in the U. S. A. The study additionally examined the differences of the effects of the Tae Kwon Do with regard to gender, skill level, and age.
The total sample consisted of 247 current Tae Kwon Do participants' parents. Of the total sample, 178 males' and 69 females' parents were chosen by virtue of their answering the questionnaire. Of total sample, 92 basic skill level participants, 111 intermediate skill level participants, and 44 advanced skill level participants were included for this study.
The data were obtained through questionnaires which were modified, distributed, and collected by the researcher. A number of statistical proceduers were used to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics were used to develop a descriptive profile of the subjects(e.g., gender, age, and skill level). SPSSX two-way Chi-Square procedures were applied to analyze the data related to the hypotheses.
The following are the results of the test of the research hypotheses based upon the statistical treatment of the data within the limitations of the study.
(1) There was no significant difference between males and females with regard to social development after Tae Kwon Do learning.
(2) There was no significant difference between younger and older with regard to social development after Tae Kwon Do learning.
(3) There was no significant difference between basic skill level and intermediate with regard to social development after Tae Kwon Do learning.
(4) There was no significant difference between intermediate skill level and advanced skill with regard to social development after Tae Kwon Do learning.
