국내 읽기 연구에 나타난 RAN 역할 고찰: 읽기부진 및 읽기장애를 중심으로 = A Systematic Review on the Roles of Rapid Automatized Naming in Reading For Students with Reading Difficulties

The purposes of this study were to (1) systematically synthesize findings of studies regarding rapid automatized naming(RAN) and (2) explore the feasibility of using RAN as a tool to screen and intervene students with reading difficulties/disabilities to increase their reading ability. An extensive search process with inclusion and exclusion criteria yielded a total of 13 studies. The major findings are summarized as follows: first, each study applied different versions of RAN tasks and RAN tasks and stimuli varied according to each study; second, RAN has a strong relation to word recognition and reading fluency; third, students with reading difficulties/disabilities showed lower performance in RAN than their peers; and fourth, RAN intervention was effective in improving students’ word recognition and reading fluency. Finally, the roles of RAN were discussed in the aspects of predictors/outcome variables, and future directions for research were suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 읽기부진 및 읽기장애를 대상으로 한 국내 연구들에서 나타난 읽기능력 관련 변인으로서의 빨리 이름대기(Rapid automatized naming: RAN)의 역할을 고찰하고, 그 결과를 바탕으로 RAN이 선별 및 중재 과제로서 성립되는 데에 필요한 향후 연구 과제를 찾아 제시하는 데에 목적이 있다. 본 문헌분석연구는 2000년부터 2015년 1월까지 국내학술지에 발표된 연구 총 13편을 일반적인 특성, RAN 과제 및 측정학적 적합성, 연구유형(상관/예측연구, 중재연구, 비교연구)에 따라 분석하였다. 주요 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, RAN 과제와 자극의 구성과 제시, 점수산출 방법은 연구에 따라 다양하게 나타났으며, 둘째, RAN은 단어인지와 읽기유창성을 유의하게 설명/예측하였다. 셋째, 읽기장애 및 읽기부진 아동 모두 일반아동에 비해 낮은 RAN 수준을 보였으며, 넷째, RAN 과제를 활용한 중재는 단어인지, 읽기유창성 향상에 효과적이었다. 끝으로, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 국내 읽기 연구에서 보고된 RAN의 역할에 대해 논의하고 향후 RAN 연구를 위한 방향을 제언하였다.
