This study is to analyze effects of neighborhood satisfaction on social interaction and resident living satisfaction and to analyze mediating effects of social interaction on the relation between neighborhood satisfaction and resident living satisfaction. In addition, it is to analyze that the mediating effects would be different depending on the size of the analysis unit.
For the research purposes, this study utilized data of 2019 Incheon City Social Survey, it selected 3,462 residents as research subjects in Yeonsu-gu and Jung-gu at the level of autonomous district level, and it selected 73 residents in Songdo 1-dong, Sinpo-dong, and Dongincheon-dong at the level of administrative-dong level.
This study conducted an independent t-test by using the SPSS program in order to analyze influence between neighborhood satisfaction and social interaction and between neighborhood satisfaction and resident living satisfaction. It conducted SOBEL TEST in order to analyze mediating effects between neighborhood satisfaction and resident living satisfaction.
As a result of research, this study found neighborhood satisfaction had effects on social interaction and resident living satisfaction at the autonomous district level and social interaction had partial mediating effects between neighborhood satisfaction and neighborhood satisfaction.
At the administrative-dong level, in the relationship between neighborhood satisfaction and resident living satisfaction, some items, out of the areas of administrative-dong, did not show difference. It means that when comparing physical facilities of neighborhood environment components, the neighborhood facilities were installed at similar levels between areas of the administrative-dong. In addition this study found that, at the administrative-dong level, there were no effects on neighborhood satisfaction and social interaction and social interaction did not have mediating effects between neighborhood satisfaction and resident living satisfaction. This study assumed neighborhood environments have different influences depending on the size of the analysis unit.
