토빗 모형을 이용한 무선인터넷 소비지출의 결정요인 분석 = Analyzing the Determinants of the Wireless Internet Consumption Expenditure

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 서울을 포함한 6개 대도시에 거주하는 819명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 자료를 이용하여 무선인터넷 소비지출의 결정요인을 분석한다. 이 때, 분석에 사용된 응답자 819명 중 76.3%인 625명이 무선인터넷을 사용하지 않는다고 응답하였다. 따라서 자료 내에 영의 값들이 적지 않을 때 자료를 효과적으로 모형화하는 Type Ⅰ 토빗 모형과 사용여부를 나타내는 변량과 소비지출을 의미하는 변량을 종합적으로 고려하는 이변량 모형인 Type Ⅱ 토빗 모형을 적용하였다. 분석결과, 두 모형의 추정결과에서 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 연령, 월평균 개인 용돈, 무선인터넷 사용시간이 무선인터넷 소비지출의 유의한 결정요인으로 나타났다. 즉, 연령이 낮아질수록 무선인터넷의 소비지출이 증가하며, 월평균 개인 용돈과 무선인터넷 사용시간이 많을수록, 그리고 무선인터넷 사용 중 정보 관련 콘텐츠와 여가 및 오락 콘텐츠의 사용자 일수록 무선인터넷의 소비지출이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 비사용자를 고려하는 모형으로 보다 일반적인 모형인 Type Ⅱ 토빗 모형에서의 추정결과, 무선인터넷 지출의 소득 탄력성은 0.513, 연령 탄력성은 -2.026으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper attempts to analyze the determinants of the wireless Internet consumption expenditure(WICE) using data from a survey of 819 individual living in 6 large cities including Seoul. Only 23.7% of 819 sampled individuals, 194, responded that they use wireless Internet service. Therefore, this study employs the Type Ⅰ Tobit model and the Type Ⅱ Tobit model to take the non-user data into account. The estimation results of the Type Ⅰ Tobit model and the Type Ⅱ Tobit model are similar. Age, average monthly income and wireless Internet use time are the significant determinants of the WICE. Dummies for using information and entertainment contents have positive relationship with the WICE. In addition, the income and age elasticities of the WICE were estimated as 0.513 and -2.026, respectively, implying that the WICE is income-inelastic and age-elastic.
