노인의 여가시간 소비의 영향요인 분석 = An Analysis of the Effect Variables of the Leisure Time Consumption of the Elderly

This study analyze the effect variables of leisure time consumption of the elderly for understanding of their leisure life style and needs of leisure. In order to do this study, we analysed the time use dairy which were collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 1999 and analysis of data was done through OLS. Tobit, and Logistic analysis mainly. The elderly is meant people over 55 years old. The result of this study were as follows: 1) The effect variables of the leisure time consumption of the elderly are sex, age, education level, the existence of spouse, having a job or not, weekdays or weekend. 2) The effect variables of the leisure time consumption of the elderly in sub areas are summarized as explaining the effect of each of variables in sub areas. The male elderly consume more leisure time in acquaintance, using mass media, sports leisure activity and dilettante life than the female. The female elderly consume more leisure time in religious activity and purchasing for leisure activity than the male. Age has a significant positive effect on acquaintance, using mass media, dilettante, religious activity, participation of cultural event and purchasing for leisure activity. The education degree has a positive effect on using mass media, sports leisure activity, learning, religious activity and purchasing for leisure activity and negative effect on dilettante life. The single elderly consume more leisure time in acquaintance, using mass media, sports leisure activity, dilettante life and religious activity than the couple. The jobless elderly consume more leisure time in all of areas than the elderly who have a job. The elderly who don`t possess house consume more leisure time in using mass media, religious activity and purchasing for leisure activity than the elderly who possess house. The elderly more consume leisure time in acquaintance, using mass media and religious activity on weekends than weekdays. Results from this study will allow researchers to have a unique view of the elderly leisure and will contribute to elderly well-being. This study is a useful instrument to researcher, enterpriser, policy makers.
