These days. competitive power of specific city areas is considered as a national competitive power around the world. So countries are trying to bring up the competitive power of communities and to make a place itself a brand or trade. The purpose of this study is to survey what kinds of local expressions can be used to intensify the place brand. First, idea of the place brand and the placeness is defined, and then draws how these two factors, place brand and placeness, are theoretically related. And then, based on the relation between these two factors, instances of communities developed place brand are analyzed, and surveys how the expression of placeness contributes to the building of a place brand.
