To begin, this article has addressed five major principles for developing school curriculum toward the 21st century in Korea; school education for all, education influencing family and society, artculation with higher education, education-reform through curriculum development, and developing identity of Korean education. The second section has examined the desirable image of educated Korean, placing emphasis on the basic learning to learn, think, work, relate, fell and be. The third section has considered new strategies developing school curriculum. They included the fair distribution of curriculum contents, the basic compulsory education, the individual differences, the opportunity for choices and autonomy and the experience-driven multi-disciplinary approach. Finally, this article has proposed innovations in curriculum policy including scienfic approach in curriculum revision, awareness of teachers of new curriculum, follo-up service for curriculum implementation at schools, and development of curriculum evaluation system.
