Renewable energy expansion offers significant environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions; however, its installation in biodiverse forest areas often triggers a "Green-Green Conflict" (GGC) due to the loss of essential ecosystem services. This study quantified and compared the economic values of greenhouse gas reduction benefits against forest ecosystem service losses in South Korea, employing a multi-component biodiversity framework (composition, structure, - 65 and function). The results revealed that ecosystem service benefits outweighed the environmental gains from solar power generation in both natural and planted forests. Notably, natural forests exhibited significantly higher carbon absorption and storage capacity than planted forests, confirming their status as critical carbon sinks. Furthermore, the analysis highlighted methodological risks, such as the potential overestimation of environmental costs when using simplified indicators and the socioeconomic biases inherent in Willingness-to-Pay (WTP) valuations. The findings confirm that the economic cost of carbon loss in natural forests is substantially higher, reinforcing the need for their prioritized conservation.
