The paper studies how perceived teacher expectancy, self-directed learning ability, aim-and-feedback, learning control, academic self-efficacy and home environment exert direct or indirect influences on academic achievement. For this investigation 849 students were selected from 2nd graders of boys` and girls` high schools of 5 areas in the whole nation. Correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis, and path analysis were adopted for the statistical analysis of collected data. Analyses showed that home environment, out of 6 latent variables affecting academic achievement is the most influential factor followed by academic self-efficacy, learning control, self-directed learning ability and aim-and-feedback. But perceived teacher expectancy is the least influential factor. This study indicates that home environment needs to stabilize for both physically and emotionally and self-control and academic self-efficacy are focused in order to improve academic achievement.
