지역사회를 위한 대학의 역할

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 고는 대전 지역내 충남대학교를 중심으로 지역사회와 대학의 상생적 역할을 위한 대학의 우선적 역할에 주목한다. 일반적으로 대학의 고유 기능인 교육과 연구행위는 그 지역에 대한 경제적인 측면에서 뿐만 아니라 사회, 문화적 측면에 이르게 포괄적 영향을 준다. 그렇기 때문에 실제적으로 타 지역들의 경험적 사례들을 볼 경우, 연구기능이 지역의 특성과 연관될수록 지역사회와의 결합도가 더욱 높아지고 있음이 발견된다. 충남대의 ‘비전 2025 장기발전계획’과 “대전시와 대학의 협력방안에 관한 연구”(2012)는 지역내 대학의 역할을 보여준다. 본 고는 이를 통해 지역사회발전을 위한 충남대의 적극적 역할을 전략적 차원에서 방향을 제언하고자 한다. 첫째 충남대가 대학의 본래의 목적인 교육과 연구에 충실하여 양질의 학생들을 배출할 수 있도록 학내 구성원들간 합의와 실천이 필요하다. 둘째 지역사회발전을 위한 계획이 충남대의 재정확보와 확충보다 지역사회발전을 위한 대학의 역할은 공공서비스적 성격을 전제로 하여야한다. 셋째 지역사회의 요구에 부응하는 방식이 아닌 충남대가 지역사회를 선도하는 방식으로 지역사회발전에 참여하여야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research focuses on the role of university for the win-win of a local society and university. For this purpose, Chungnam University in Daejeon is studied. In general the education and the research as the innate function of university have an inclusive effect not only on the economic aspect of a local society but also on social and cultural aspects of it. Therefore, when observed from empirical case studies on other local societies, it is founded that the more related the function of research is to the attributes of a local society, the higher the degree of coupling of a university with a local society is. “Vision 2015, Long-term Development Scheme of Chungnam University” and “The Study on Scheme of Cooperation of The Daejeon City and Universities” typically present the role of the university within a local society. This study proposes the active role of Chungnam University for the development of Daejeon City in the strategical aspect. Firstly, Chungnam University is needed to have an agreement and practice among members composed of it in order to produce many excellent students, devoting to the education and the research as an inherent purpose. Secondly, the scheme for the development of a local society should be based on the public services for the local society rather than on the acquisition of academic finance of Chungnam Universtiy. Finally, Chungnam Universtiy should participate in the development of a local society non in the way Chungnam Universtiy meets the demand of a local society but in the way Chungnam University leads a local society.
