The purpose of this study is to relate flexural behavior and inner
structure of carbon composites with molding conditions. Molding conditions
are hot press, auto-clave, oven, and infusion. In the 3-point bending test,
the specimen treated with auto clave method showed higher flexural stress
compared with hot press method. This result showed putting pressure on
composites with extracting resin is good method.
The morphologies of fracture-section and surface of CFRP were
observed with SEM. The morphologies of specimens with auto clave
method contain more resin than hot press method. This result showed that
resin contents are in inverse proportion to mechanical properties. More
important factor in the mechanical properties is a void content. Auto clave
specimens consist of 44% of resin. But, their inner structure is so
compact. Void volume is important factor with resin content in the
mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
