논문 : 무가를 통해 본 서울굿 노들제 연구 = The Study of Seoul-gut Nodeulje through Muga(shaman song)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

서울굿은 궁중문화와 도시문화를 배경으로 다양한 양태를 지녀왔으며, 이를 각각 서울굿의 유파라 할 수 있다. 서울굿을 명확하게 이해하기 위해서는, 서울굿의 각 유파에 주목해야 한다. 그 중 하나가 ``노들제``로, 한강 서쪽과 김포, 시흥, 파주,문산, 인천의 내륙에서 행하던 굿을 말한다. 노들제는 지역적으로 서울과 경기도의 경계면에 있고, 한강의 물길을 통해 서해안과 연결되었기 때문에 다양한 굿문화가 복합되어 있는 유파이다. 본고에서는 노들제가 가진 특성을 파악하고, 서울굿과의 공통점과 차이점을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 <마마거리>와 <안당제석거리>의 굿거리 구성과 무가를 대상으로 살펴보았다. 노들제 천신굿의 굿거리 구성은 서울굿과 크게 차이가 나지 않지만, <마마거리>가 독립적으로 존재하고 손님노정기가 구송된다는 점에서 경기도와 유사하다. 하지만 노들제에서 마마가 등장하는 손님노정기가 불리는 모습은 과거 서울굿에서 호구노정기가 불렸던 것과도 공통적이다. 게다가 경기도굿의 천연두신이 별상인 것과는 달리, 노들제에서는 천연두신은 마마 또는 손님신으로 부른다. 노들제의 별상은 서울굿과 마찬가지로 장군신, 사신(使臣), 사도세자와 관련되어 나타난다는 데서 서울굿과 동일함을 확인할 수 있다. 또 노들제에서는 <안당제석거리>에서서울굿과 동일하게 제석본풀이를 구송하지 않지만, 대신 술타령이라는 긴 무가를 구송한다. 이는 과거 서울 지역에서 술타령이 불렸던 것과 일치한다. 지리적, 문화적배경을 바탕으로 다양성을 지닌 것이 서울굿이라면, 앞으로도 서울굿에 대한 올바른이해를 위해 각 유파에 대한 심도 깊은 논의가 계속되길 희망한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Seoul-gut (shamanist ritual performed in Seoul region) has main- tained a variety of styles with court and urban cultural settings, and this can be said as the school of Seoul-gut. To understand Seoul-gut clearly, it is required to examine each style of Seoul-gut. One of them is ``Nodeulje`` the ``Gut`` performed in the western region of Han River, Gimpo, Siheung, Paju, Munsan, and Incheon`s interior. Since the festi- val has been performed across the border between Seoul and Gyeon- ggi Province, and the area is connected to the west coast through the water route of Han River, it is a Korean shamanic style where diffe- rent cultures of Gut have been mixed. This study aims to identify something in common and difference between Nodeulje and Seoul-gut, having grasped its characteristics. To do this, the study investigated the compositions of Gutgeori (ritual cycle) and Muga (shaman song) used in <Mamageori> and <Andang Jeseokgeori>. Although the composition of such Gutgeori as ``Cheon- singut`` (shamanic ritual for the heavenly gods) of Nodeulje doesn`t show great difference from that of Seoul-gut, however, the two are quite similar each other from the viewpoints that <Mamageo- ri> isperformed independently, also Sonnim Nojeonggi, which denotes literally ``record of the guest spirit`s journey`` is being recited. However, the performance style of Sonnim Nojeonggi during Nodeul- je where ``Mama`` is appeared is common to the Seoul-gut where ``Hogu Nojeonggi,`` which denotes ``records of the goddess of small- pox`s journey. Besides, different from the fact that the goddess of smallpox is called "Byeolsang" (a different name of the goddess of smallpox called in the shamanistic folklore) in Gyeonggi-do gut, the goddess of smallpox in Nodeulje is being called "Mama," or "Sonnim -sin or Guest Spirit." "Byeolsang" in Nodeulje, as it is in Seoul-gut, is appeared as by ``God of Army and Soldier Protector,`` ``Envoy,`` and ``Crown Prince Sado.`` From this point, the sameness between Nodeulje and Seoul-gut can be confirmed. Moreover, in Nodeulje, ``Jeseok Bonpuri``-rite to Korea`s supreme heaven-god; Jeseok, is not performed same as in <Andang Jeseokgeori> of Seoul-gut, instead, a long shaman song, called Sul Taryeong - general rhythm of Korean traditional music on the theme of alcoholic drink - is recited. This corresponds to the fact in the past that Sul Taryeong was sung in Seoul region. If it is true that Seoul-gut reveals diversity of gut-culture on the ground of geographic and cultural background, more in-depth discussion about each style or school of Seoul-gut will be necessary to understand it further.
