자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스와 부모의 정서표현양가성이 정서관련 양육행동에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Parent’s Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness and Parenting Stress based on Young Children’s Difficult Temperament on Parent’s Emotion-Related Parenting Behavior

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스와 양육자의 정서표현양가성이 정서관련 양육행동에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구 대상은 만 3-6세 미취학 자녀를 양육하는 전국의 부모로서 209명이 이 연구에 참여하였으며, 자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스, 정서표현양가성, 정서관련 양육행동을 포함하는 자기보고식 설문조사가 실시되었다. 208명의 자료가 사용되었으며, t검정, 상관분석, 회귀분석을 실시한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스, 정서표현양가성, 정서관련 양육행동은 양육자와 자녀의 연령에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다.

둘째, 자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스, 정서표현양가성, 정서관련 양육행동 간 유의한 상관이 있음을 확인하였다.

셋째, 자녀의 까다로운 기질에 근거한 양육스트레스는 양육자의 정서관련 양육행동에 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 양육스트레스는 정서관련 양육행동 중 지지적 반응인 ‘정서초점 반응’과 ‘문제초점 반응’에는 부적인 영향을 미쳤고, 비지지적 반응인 ‘심리적 고통 반응’ 및 ‘처벌 반응’에는 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, ‘표현격려 반응’과 ‘과소평가 반응’에 대한 설명력은 유의하지 않았다.

넷째, 정서표현양가성이 정서관련 양육행동에 미치는 영향을 확인한 결과, 자기방어적 양가성과 관계관여적 양가성 모두 양육자의 지지적 반응을 유의하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 비지지적 반응에 대해서는 자기방어적 양가성의 설명력만이 유의한 것으로 나타났다.

마지막으로 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 의의와 한계점에 대해 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament and ambivalence over emotional expression of the parents on emotion-related parenting behavior. For this purpose, 209 parents raising preschool children aged 3-6 across the country participated in the study, and responded to a self-report survey that measured parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament, ambivalence over emotional expression of the parents, and emotion-related parenting behavior (parental reaction to child’s negative emotions). The analysis used 208 data, including t-tests, correlation analysis, and regression analysis.

The results obtained from this study are as follows.
First, parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament and ambivalence over emotional expression of the parents, emotion-related parenting behavior differed significantly depending on the age of the parents and children.

Second, there was a significant correlation between parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament, ambivalence over emotional expression of the parents, and emotion-related parenting behavior.

Third, parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament had a significant effect on the parent’s emotion-related parenting behavior in part. Parenting stress based on a child's difficult temperament had a negative effect on the supportive reaction, ‘Emotion-focused reaction’ and ‘Problem-focused reaction’ of emotion-related parenting behavior and had a positive effect on the unsupportive reaction, ‘Distress reaction’ and ‘Punitive reaction’. On the other hand, The effects of 'Expressive encouragement reaction' and 'Minimizing reaction' were not significant.

Fourth, as a result of confirming the effect of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness on emotion-related parenting behavior, ‘Self-defensive AE’ factor and ‘Relation-involved AE’ factor significantly explained the supportive reaction. On the other hand, only the effects of ‘Self-defensive AE’ factor was significant for unsupportive reaction.

Finally, based on these findings, the significance and limitations of this study are discussed.
