Confronted with the increasing concentration of population and economic activity in a very few large urban centers, policy makers in many developing countries have sought to implement industrial location policies intended to influence the location and relocation of manufacturing industries. Although, little has been known about the impacts of industrial location policies on manufacturing location, such policies are being pursued in many countries. This study has two objectives:to examine changing location patterns and important factors influencing manufacturing activity, and to access the role of government in industrial location, with special attention given to the experience of South Korea.
