This experiment was designed to be conducted by high school students, but could also easily be integrated into the laboratories for general, analytical, or environmental chemistry.
The ground-level ozone in the Atmosphere were analyzed using homemade LED colorimeter.
1. LED colorimeter that we made in this study well reflects linearity of photoregister about triiodide ion concentration, and it can measure the ozone concentration by the concentration of triiodide ion.
2. The ozone concentration gets higher in the afternoon rather than morning.
3. The ozone concentration is noticeably below in the forest areas rather than the roadside or the residential areas.
4. We found out LED colorimeter can measure the ozone concentration inexpensively.
5. We found out that the ozone concentration is noticeably below in the forest areas that have relatively fewer traffic rather than the roadside that has heavy traffic.
