This study has analyzed and examined an experiment on the chatter vibration of lathe tools in cutting of steel.
The results of experiment are as follows.
1. The transient region has been in the curve of stable and unstable regions on the relation between cutting speed and depth of cut and it can be selected the stable region by the change of the cutting speed.
2. The change in speed has a greater effect on chatter control than a corresponding change in the feed rate.
3. Chatter vibration between cutting speed and feed rate can be controlled by increasing or decreasing the cutting speed depending upon whether the specific running condition is to the right or to the left of the Critrical speed.
