The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on cardiorespiratory responses from 30sec sprint interval wingate test(SIT) in college students and elite athletes. In this regard, cardiorespiratory variables such as cycling endurance time, maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), ventilation (VE), respiratory exchange rate (RER), heart rate (HR) were investigated before, immediately after training and post detraining. As a result, in a group of elite athletes cycling endurance time and RER did not show any change post training and detraining vs. pre-training. On the other hand, in a group of non-athlete, cycling endurance time and RER were significantly changed when pre-training compared to post training and detraining. Ventilation(VE), VO2max and HR were not significantly changed in both all groups compared to post training and detraining. Taken together, sprint interval wingate test(SIT) of anaerobic training applied for this study might be a potential way of training to improve cardiorespiratory ability in non-atheltes, and 30sec sprint interval training (i.e., Wingate test) could be an alternative training method to improve aerobic & cardiorespiratory capacity in untrained subjects. To improve aerobic/cardiorespiratory capacity through anaerobic training for elite athletes, future study needs to apply sprint interval training program with stronger intensity, longer period and more frequency than SIT program used in current study. Sprint interval training in current study improved several variables related to aerobic/cardiorespiratory capacity only in non-athletes` group.
